Point of View

An interactive art installation for a new inpatient unit for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) at Linn Dara Cherry Orchard Campus, Dublin. In collaboration with writers Stephen Murray and Anastasia Pappas and Graphic Designers New Graphic.

Point of View was a commission under the Per Cent for Art Scheme for the HSE managed by Create. The work consists of a set of cards, and related images and text that have been placed in various locations in the new building of the Linn Dara Child and Adolescent Mental Health Facility in Cherry Orchard, Dublin. The cards have instructions and poems that encourage the young people to explore the building. Michelle Browne with writers Stephen Murray and Anastasia Pappas, to develop a series of texts related to transformation and metamorphosis. All poems in the building and on the cards are by Stephen Murray and Anastasia Pappas, with some famous quotes by such thinkers as Carl Jung. The writing and instructions encourage an exploration of the new building and the use of imagination in the discovery of the space that the young people will inhabit for a short period of time. The cards point the young people to different areas of the building to encourage unusual viewpoints and an active engagement with the space through the placement of images and text on the walls of the facility. Point of View offers a playful engagement with the young people's temporary home.
